What the mail list is for

The maillist

WANLESS-L@ROOTSWEB.COM

is used for discussion of research on the Wanless - Wandless name (any conceivable spelling) and for announcements about updates to Wanless Web. The list, like most RootsWeb-sponsored lists, comes in 2 forms - either you get each individual message via email, or all the messages for a time period (say, a week) are clumped together in a "digest" and you get the digest as one email message. As this is a very low-traffic list, I recommend joining in regular list format.

How to join the mail list

To subscribe to the list format, click here or to subscribe to the digest format, click here. Your mail tool should produce a pre-addressed "subscribe" message. Make sure your email tool does not add any automatic signatures. Make sure you're sending the message from the email address you want the emails to come to. Send it. You'll get a confirmation message via return email. Save that message; it explains how to unsubscribe from the list later!

Once you've joined, to send a message to the list, address a message to:

WANLESS-L@ROOTSWEB.COM

The case of the address is irrelevant.

As with all RootsWeb-sponsored lists, you cannot send mail to the list without first joining it. This is to prevent non- members from deluging the list with unwanted email, aka "spam".

Problems

Think you've joined the list, but you're not getting any email from it? The following people have recently been removed for the reasons shown below. Check your mailbox, make sure email is deleted from your server when you retrieve it, or talk to your email administrator.
