      He may have moved to Iowa with Leven's family, as James is first listed there about the same time as Leven.

      Pictures of Daisy and Alice were found by Shirley Davis in her great-grandfather Francis Asbury Wanless's collection of pictures, so the two families must have been somewhat close. Frank & James were first cousins (their fathers Leven & Stephen were brothers) and James lived near Leven except for the time he spent in CA and later in OR.

      Although he appears to have moved to Portland by 1883, he may also be this 1895 state census entry in Salem:
