    Notes
    • Link from Thomas to his parents is not proven and is based on the following:
      a) he bears the name of his mother Isabella Kay's father, Thomas Kay
      b) per his family bible, he was born at Wooler, Northumberland, where George & Isabella (Kay) Wanless had a child in 1830
      c) he lived in Chatham where some of his siblings lived
      d) he lived in Beauharnois co QUE near where his mother died when she died

Thos's middle name is clearly Kay on son George's chr. rec and on dau. Eleanor's chr. rec., where he signed himself, and on son Andrew's birth record. However, his tombstone says Key - did he change it later, or did his offspring misspell it?.

Likely GRO birth entry: Thomas Wanlass, Wooler, 1820, regt: RA vol: RA16 pages: 27 and 43

Christening not in Wooler (C of E) parish register. Might have been christened at a Presbyterian or other dissenting church.

      Naming pattern:
Janet Isabella - mother's mother and father's mother
      Henry Ray - ??
      George James - father's father and ??
      Eleanor Agnes - ??
      Andrew Kay - father's mother's brother
      John Creelman - ??
      etc.
-- why no Peter after the mother's father?
