    Notes
    • What relation are these people? Robert Dixon b. 1836/37 (or May 1832 as self-reported in 1900) in England, married Mary Ann Wanless, b. May 1836 per the 1900 census or 1841 per the 1870 census; they married about 1856, in England, immigrated in 1867 and moved to Illinois by 1870. In 1870 Illinois census, John & Isabella's son Robert Wandless, probably newly immigrated, lives with them. In the 1880 census, John & Isabella's granddaughters (daus. of their dau. Jane Nicholson) are listed with Robert & Mary Ann Dixon as "cousin". Mary Ann *could* be an unknown daughter of John & Isabella, but they already have a dau. Mary in the 1841 census, born abt 1826, while Mary Ann was born 10 yrs later and does not appear in the 1841 or 1851 census with them, plus we don't have any strays of that name in those censuses.
      ----------------------
Sons Wm & Robert both named sons Joseph - is that significant?

Possible 1851 census entry, although per 1841 he should be 55-59 here:
