    • Unmarried. Raised dead sister's children. (I assume this means Mary Ann's children, since Devisa's only child died when she did). Tombstone erroneously says "Melly S.", according to L. Craig, who says her name was Melly D. From the censuses, it looks like "S" was right.

      Name may have been Sarah Melly or Melly Sarah. In 1850 & 1870 census, she is listed as Sarah M. Maybe her middle name was Melvina - her sister Mary Ann named a child that.

      1860: Listed as S. Mel, age 28, with siblings and mother. See brother James's entry.
