| Notes |
- We have not found a christening record for Ellen in the Yetholm parish records. Her data comes from the book "Who's Which".
Married her 2nd cousin, George Wanless, who was head of the Academy in Carillon, Quebec. (From Reby Dodds book, Who's Which?)
"Who's Which" says they married in 1825 in Whitehall, which appears to be 10 yrs too early and in the wrong place.
Need to see 1841/51 census to see where John was born. In 1851, Argenteuil parishes were in Deux Montagnes co, but G & E aren't in the published transcription which covers St Andrews and Carillon nor in the 1851 census at ancestry.com. The family seems to have been skipped. Could try 1842 census: FHLs 1375934 and 1375935 cover Deux Montagnes co. The 2nd one also covers part of Montreal; would there be any Wanlesses there then?
Death record from St Andrews Parish records:
Ellen, widow of the late George Wanless of Carillon, died on the first day of May 1884. Buried 2 May 1884. Signed by George Albert Wanless
