    • Note that there were at least 2 other Wandless males having children in Lamesley in the 1790s: an unknown George & Elizabeth, and Robert's brother Thomas & his wife Margaret.

      Originally, the information on this line came from Cynthia Brodie at:

      who is helping Arthur Wandless of Waikino, New Zealand with his family tree. The parents of Robert were given as Thomas Wanless & Margaret Shales, married at St. Andrew's, Lamesley, Durham (no date). However, this marriage is not in Bell's marriage index for Lamesley 1689-1837, nor in Chester le St PR. Also, the Derek Boys transcription of the Lamesley PR shows no baptisms for Wanless until 1757, and none for Thomas & Margaret until 1794 (which is probably Thomas W and Margaret Towers) and no corresponding christening for a Robert to a Thomas & Margaret in the right time frame. On the other hand, the age on this Robert's burial record matches the christening of Robert to Robert & Ann in 1768, so we have moved him to those parents until further data comes to light.
