| Notes |
- This may have been the Thomas Ramsay spoken of by the descendants of James Wanlass (1825-1895)[a miner who married Margaret Neilson]. They remembered their James saying that he had been partially raised by a Ramsay family, because he was orphaned from his parents. This Thomas Ramsay's daughter Margaret married John Wanless, who may have been the father of James Wanless (1827-1877) [a baker who married Christina Parkenson]. These two James share the same Y-chromosomal DNA, indicating that they share a common male ancestor.
