    Notes
    • I have tied Samuel to his parents based on circumstantial evidence as follows:
      1) Samuel's parents on his death record, reported by his son-in-law William Wandless, were Robert & Elizabeth Guinn; Elizabeth was actually Robert's 2nd wife and Samuel's stepmother, per Robert's will. These are the only Robert & Elizabeth Gwin found so far in the area in the right timeframe to have a child around 1811. Robert's will names son Samuel.
      2) Samuel Guin & Elizabeth his wife participated in a joint land sale in 1847 with the children listed as "by my first wife" in Robert's will, selling to Thomas Clayton their undivided 1/14 part of the Lockridge farm on the Calfpasture, which they had inherited from their father Robert in his will
      3) In the 1847 land sale, Jane Gwin & her husband David Gwin live in Wood Co, setting up a reason for Samuel to move there after 1850
      4) In the 1847 land sale, Samuel, Joseph, and Margaret live in Augusta Co; the census for 1850 shows these are the only Samuel, Joseph, and Margaret Guin/Gwins in the county, and Samuel & Joseph live very near each other. I had thought Margaret, who lives with Samuel, was his daughter, but perhaps he adopted her after his sister Margaret's death. She could be "my dau. Margaret's dau. Margaret" listed in Robert's will. That might explain why she has a trustee acting for her later, since she owned property.

Coles Co ILL history pub. 1887 says Samuel is the only child of Robert & Sarah who is living - but he died in Dec 1884. I suppose it's possible that the IL relatives from whom the info was gathered didn't know he'd died...
