    • Father James's will names grandson Logan Guin.

4 Aug 1823: Letter from James Clayton (who md Lavinia Payne) to his brother Ralph Clayton in St. Louis mentions the following: "Mr. Joseph Guin, the son of James, has been sick for some time and is thought to be the consumption. He isn't more than able to walk across the house. Doctor Montgomery has very little hopes of his recovering. He is living on the place that his father in law got from Hicklin."

1823 Nov 20: Inventory of Joseph Gwin submitted by Walter Richards, Charles Erwin, Robert A. Benson, before John Brown [BCWI]
-- note he was probably only in his mid to late 20s when he died, probably from tuberculosis, per the Clayton letter
