| Notes |
- He is probably a son of George Wandless & Elizabeth Bateman.
Comments from Claire Wandless & Kay Stevens: There is a John Wanless baptised Alston, CUL on 26 June 1774, a son of George Wanless & Elizabeth Bateman originally of Alston, who fits fairly well here. Note that Geo. & Eliz. moved to & died in Wallsend, where John's children were born. Most of the Wallsend Wandlesses seem to have Alston links.
This may be John's burial record - note that no children have been found born to John & Jane after 1813:
1 Feb 1814 burial at Wallsend of John Wanless aged 45 abode Wallsend.
If this is this John, he was born abt 1769.
We also wonder if he also had been married before, as there is a Wallsend burial of Mary Wanless late Dinsdale/Linsdale, age 27, wife of John Wanless pitman, on 10 June 1806. They married in Wallsend on 27 Oct 1804, married by banns, witnesses Joseph Elliott and Jos. Mordue. They had a dau. Elizabeth b. 18 Feb 1805 in Wallsend, who died on 20 Feb 1805 "aged 2 weeks" (seems like it should be 2 days), buried at Wallsend.
