Luke Wanlass married Barbara Dumble in 1741 in Ford, Northumberland, England. Later his family lived at Alston, Cumberland. Their son Luke (abt 1743-1797) married Ann Jackson in Alston; this database primarily concerns the following children of Luke & Ann:

• Ralph (1781-abt 1825, wife Mary Walton) was a shipwright, merchant, and owned some lead mines in Alston, Cumberland. His grandson Ralph Wanlass (1845-1926, wife (1) Sarah Ann Douglas (2) Alice Mary Thompson) emigrated from England to Clinton, Iowa about 1883.
• Jackson (1789-1859, wives (1) Mary Russell (2) Ann White) was a lead miner in Alston. His children Ann (1813-1893), William (1821-1891), Jackson (1823-1864), and Ellen (1828-1896) were early converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, and they all emigrated to Ray Co, Missouri, USA in the early 1850s, and then to Utah, with most of them settling in the Lehi area. (Ann & Ellen went first to Canada.)
